News Round Up (October)

There’s been so much happening in the snow world lately and our Insta feed has been firing constantly – there’s new edits dropping every day, new magazines to read, new people to follow. Feeling overwhelmed? FEAR NOT. We’ve got your back. Here’s your round up of the latest news.

We can... snowboard/ski again?

First of all – people are RIDING. For both southern and northern hemispheres, 2020 has been a weird one, but snow is falling and as an industry WE ARE BACK baby! The Stomping Grounds Park over in Saas Fee has been open since the start of the month, and people have been getting after it. Anna Gasser, Jamie Anderson, Eileen Gu, and Cassie Sharpe are just a few of the girls out there sending it to the moon. It finally feels like the 2020 winter is ACTUALLY HAPPENING and we couldn't be more stoked.

The Uninvited II

Yep, that’s right – the news has dropped that there’s gonna be a sequel to one of the most progressive snowboarding movies ever. Jess Kimura looks like she’s pulled it out of the bag AGAIN with some incredible up-and-coming riders. Think Ylfa Runarsdottir, Miyon Yamaguchi, Naima Antolin, Darrah Reid, and many more. It's coming out in November but for now we're happy hitting repeat on the trailer.

iF3 Festivals

Right now we're in the middle of the annual International Freeski Film Festival. This year it's been virtual and it's been great to watch this years mix of professional and amateur videos, interviews with the riders (male and female), and seeing where skiing and snowboarding has been this year. Check out the iF3 website for the event schedule.

Method Mag Female Cover

One of the biggest snowboard magazines out there, Method Mag, has a female rider on the cover for the first time. EVER. The rider is Elena Könz with a stylish hand plant. It's a great shot and a great step for female riders.

Jill Perkins also managed to snag the mid-cover of the latest Snowboarder Mag. WE LOVE TO SEE IT.

Heroes Release

Something we’ve been looking forward to for A LONG TIME is the release of Heroes, a project by Jerome Tanon. It's a 288 page tribute to females in the snowboarding industry who are dedicated to the sport in all sorts of ways. There's photographs, there's words, there's art. Get your hands on a copy. Trust us.

Podcasts podcasts podcasts

Lately a bunch of great riders have featured in some of snowboarding's best podcasts. The Bomb Hole has had Desiree Melancon, Danyale Patterson (AKA JibGurl), and most recently Nirvana Ortanez to chat about inclusion on the slopes and filming her new film Tangle. Another great podcast, Air Time, just had Darrah Reid on to talk about her brand new pro model and life as a female rider. Check them out!

What else?

Laced Magazine - a brand new Australian magazine, second release out now!

SKIVAS - a short film by a crew of female shredders of both the one and two-plank variety, dropping soon.

Tangle - a Snowboarder Mag film featuring some of our favourites (Desiree, Nirvana and Jill Perkins) - just became on DVD from local snowboard shops.

Snowboarders Guide to the Galaxy - featuring Elena Graglia alongside her husband (#couple goals), full teaser dropping on Oct 26th.

Huck Yeah! - a new ski movie coming out soon featuring girl posse The Blondes. Trailer below.
